The first Saturday in June proved a good choice for our annual open day, the sun was out most the day and it certainly stayed dry. We had a good turn out for the event and it was lovely to see some of our regular clients as well as some new faces.
We had charity stalls and crafty stalls, with some excellent homemade wares. The annual cake stand was popular as ever, although we did have to persuade staff to leave some for the visitors!
We had a kid’s treasure hunt and practice tours to show all generations a view of our facilities. There was a ‘have a go’ dog agility course available, however our staff did prove better at the tunnels than the dogs!
In the garden we had ‘weight watcher’s corner’ raising awareness of ideal body conditions and giving advice on good diet options. The photo competition was voted for via facebook and produced some cute pictures! Congratulations to the winners!
Our raffle proved very popular and winners have been contacted. Thank you for all the kind prize donations from Burns, Red Carpet Cinema, Lily’s Kitchen, Burton Albion FC, Branston Golf Club and many more. We also ventured into the world of face painting thanks to Trading Faces, even the staff got involved. We do think Paul Sands makes rather a good goat!
All in all it was a really good day, thank you to all those who attended. We raised £512! This will be donated between Cats Protection, RSPCA, PDSA and Hounds for Heroes.
